MORE THAN 40 LOCAL ORGANISATIONS SHARE IN $65,225 IN VOLUNTEER GRANTS - 12 August, 2025
Federal Member for Lyne, Alison Penfold MP, has thanked and congratulated the successful recipients of the 2024–25 Volunteer Grants Program, with 41 local community organisations across the electorate receiving a total of $65,225 in funding to support their volunteers.
The Australian Government’s Volunteer Grants program provides grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to eligible not-for-profit organisations to support the valuable work of volunteers in local communities.
“The grants awarded through this program are a fantastic boost to so many community organisations that rely on the dedication and hard work of volunteers,” Ms Penfold said.
“It’s wonderful to see organisations from Hawks Nest to Wauchope, Old Bar to Gresford, and many places in between, receiving funding that will support their volunteers with the work they do each and every day.”
In 2024–25, the Volunteer Grants program allocated up to $66,225 per federal electorate through a non-competitive, electorate-based process. In Lyne, local priorities were identified with input from a Community Committee, and eligible organisations were nominated through an Expression of Interest process.
The list of recipients reflects the diversity of the local volunteer landscape – including surf life-saving clubs, sporting groups, community organisations, schools, fire brigades, and a variety of activity-based groups supporting people of all ages.
“These grants help cover small but essential costs – from purchasing equipment, training of volunteers, club shed enhancements, and insurance and fuel reimbursements – and are a real acknowledgment of the selfless contribution volunteers make every day,” Ms Penfold said.
“I’d like to congratulate all the successful recipients and thank everyone who put in an application. It’s clear how much care and selfless service exists across our electorate. I look forward to seeing how these grants help each group continue their incredible work.”
